How it works

Take your monthly salary, subtract rent, bills and what you want to save. Divide the rest by 30 and you have a daily spending number for food, transport, going out and shopping.

Questions

Is there income tax on salaries in the UAE?

No. The UAE doesn't tax employment income, so your salary is your take-home. UAE and GCC nationals pay a pension contribution, which shows on the payslip.

How should I budget AED 15,000 a month?

A common split: about 30% on rent (AED 4,500), 10% on bills and transport (AED 1,500) and 20% saved (AED 3,000). That leaves AED 6,000 for food, fun and everything else, about AED 200.00 a day.

How much rent can I afford?

Keeping rent around 30% of take-home leaves room to save. Above 40%, saving gets hard unless you share.
