How in-hand salary is worked out

  1. Basic is usually 40–50% of CTC. PF is 12% of basic.
  2. Employer PF is part of CTC but goes to your PF account, so it comes off first.
  3. Your PF (another 12% of basic) and professional tax come off your gross pay.
  4. Income tax: new-regime slabs on gross minus the ₹75,000 standard deduction. Nil up to ₹12 lakh taxable, thanks to the 87A rebate. Then add 4% cess.

Questions

What is the in-hand salary for 26 LPA?

About ₹1,65,138 a month (₹19,81,660 a year) under the new tax regime for FY 2026-27, if basic is 50% of CTC with 12% PF on both sides and ₹200 a month professional tax.

How much tax on 26 LPA in the new regime?

₹3,03,940 a year including 4% cess, on taxable income of ₹23,69,000 after the ₹75,000 standard deduction.

Why is in-hand lower than CTC ÷ 12?

CTC includes the employer's PF, which goes to your PF account, not your bank. Your own PF, professional tax and income tax also come off. Some CTCs include gratuity or a variable bonus too, which you don't get monthly.

Does this use the old or new tax regime?

The new regime, which is the default from FY 2023-24. The old regime can work out better if you have large deductions such as HRA, 80C and home-loan interest.
