How to calculate pro rata salary

  1. Take the full-time salary in the advert.
  2. Divide your weekly hours by the full-time hours (often 37.5).
  3. Multiply the two. By days it's the same: salary × days ÷ 5.

"Pro rata" means the advertised figure is the full-time equivalent. You're paid your share of it, and you get the same share of holiday: 5.6 weeks a year, so 16.8 days if you work 3 days a week.

Full time, £20,000 takes home £1,493.30 a month. See £20,000 after tax →
