A Mint alternative that doesn't need your bank login
Mint shut down on March 23, 2024, and Intuit moved users to Credit Karma, which doesn't have Mint's budgets. Replacements fall into three kinds: bank-sync budgeting apps (closest to Mint, usually paid), manual apps and spreadsheets, and apps that read your bank's payment alerts on your phone. Pick based on whether you want to connect your bank at all.

The three kinds of Mint replacement
| Type | How it gets transactions | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Bank-sync apps | Connect to your bank through an aggregator or Open Banking | Most complete, but a third party reads your history and connections can break |
| Manual apps and spreadsheets | You type or import every transaction | Full control, but most people stop after a few weeks |
| Alert-reading apps (Savyit) | Read the payment alerts your bank sends to your phone | Automatic and private, but only sees what your bank alerts you about |
What to look for in an app
- Price: many bank-sync apps charge a yearly subscription; check the real yearly cost
- Your banks: make sure every account and card is supported
- Budgets: a monthly plan or a daily number, whichever you'll actually use
- Privacy: decide whether a third party should see your transactions
Where Savyit fits
Savyit reads the payment alerts your bank already sends to your Android phone (bank-app notifications everywhere; bank SMS and UPI alerts in India), so there's nothing to type and no bank login. For US banks it reads alerts from apps such as Chase, Bank of America, Capital One and Amex. It's free to start, with Pro from $2.99 a month or a one-time Lifetime purchase.
What it can't do
- Android only. There's no iPhone version.
- It only sees what your bank tells you. Turn on alerts for every transaction in your bank's app.
- Cash isn't in any alert. Add it with quick entry or the widget.
- No bank sync and no CSV import. It starts from new alerts (in India it can also scan recent bank SMS).

Let your phone keep the receiptSavyit reads your bank's payment alerts on your Android phone and shows what's safe to spend today. No bank login, no account.
